Ben Karki Day 21

Today, I did all of my requirements after eating lunch. Then, I attended my Saturday black belt class and my advanced sparring class. After the classes, I ran for 1 mile. I will try to run for 2 miles next week. I will see you tomorrow.

Hello there,   Today I did my requirements, went to class and had a mentor session.  I annoyed my dog this evening before the storm.  When the storm came my doggie went crazy and could not find a place to hide in.

Today was a fairly unproductive day; I spent most of the day doing nothing. I have been trying to do this more often as I have struggled with resting both my body and mind in the past. I did go to practice this morning and black belt class tonight. I also went out with a few friends to celebrate Matthews 20th Birthday!

Journal 14 - fantastic Friday

I hope everyone had a fantastic Friday and is excited for a super Saturday!!! Today I woke up and went downstairs to find my puppy running towards me! He ran all the way up to my feet, so I picked him up and he tried the climb all over me. I then played with him and afterwards ate breakfast after breakfast. My mom told me I Had to go and get my allergy shots so we went there first and then we went to Joannes to buy a bunch of fabrics make bowties and bandannas for dogs. My brother wanted to watch a show together so we got Fred bed and put it where we were watching the show so he could be with us!!! after lunch, I hung out with my brother and Fred while we went through the fabrics! Long but fun day

Today, I had a lot going on. I woke up early to finish up my miles for this week and then I went to see the new twisters movie with my mom. We then went shopping for some back to school clothes. When I got home I played some games and did some requirements. I then went to help out with a little tigers class and then took a rolls and falls class, then black belt class. After that I went out to dinner with some other instructors to celebrate a birthday and now I am here watching a movie with my parents. Have a goodnight everyone!

Journal 21: day 3 of camping

Today is day 3 of camping. We did our stuff in the stream and Flynn’s mom came and bought the dogs. After that we went through 2 storms. Then we went tubing and when we were driving there we went through a big storm. While we were tubing Flynn and I ran and fell a lot. I think we ran and fell in the stream more than we floated.

13th Journal Entry

Today is friday! (yaaaaaaay) I did my requirments fhis morning and did a mentee session because i'm a little behind. i didn't really do much today but tomorrow i'm doing black belt class and i'm going to help with Ms. Lisa's class for a leardship credit. We saw the mad scientist today at camp and he was talking about a whole bunch of force and motion. He broke a egg on the mat. Okay i'm done now

Lacrosse award

Today I woke up, had a great breakfast and my sitter came over. I went to lacrosse camp -  at the end of lacrosse camp I got an award from the coaches - they all signed a lacrosse ball.  Only 5 people out of over 30 got the award and I was one of them.  At black belt class we did staff and stick and before I knew it we were done.  I got back home, had dinner and played on the ipad.  Have a great night.

LMP August 2

So happy it's Friday! Wish I could say I get to relax this weekend but......  Im still working on my pull ups. Haven't managed one yet, but I keep trying.  Burpies and I remain enemies,  getting better at sit ups, and push ups. Jump roping is a pain, I can jump rope eith an extra bounce, but struggling to move the jump rope faster and jump once.  I continue to work on my self defense,  poomsaes, and kicks.  Off to complete my daily things.

First I went and did my requirements in the morning, then ate lunch, finished my first essay, and watched Guardians of the Galaxy for its 10th anniversary. Now all i have left is to go to Taekwondo, and then relax. Hope everyone is have a good day

Squirrel = $

Hello everyone, school is coming closer and for me and some other people, it is next week. Can't say I am too exited for it, but I am happy to see my friends again. So, today I woke up and had a different cereal because the one I love is gone. We did our exercises and so far this week I have ran 9 miles. On our way back from the gym we saw this funny sticker that said Squirrel = $ and that was fun. We had a quick stop at target but after that we went home.

Friday

Today, I got up early and did my exercises and went to the gym to do my run. After the run, we went to target to get me a suit for church and other stuff. When we got on the road again, I saw a truck with a weird sticker, it was images of  squirrel=$ and we thought it was funny. Tonight we're eating homemade pizza and it's actually so good. I can't wait and I'm going to play games now, Goodbye.

Today I woke up and then did my requirements for taekwondo. Then I did my chores and played with my dog. Then I watch a movie. After that I went to taekwondo and did one class. Now I am done for the day!

pretty good day

Had another mentor session with my mentee (thanks again Mr. Woods). Working on High Green stuff. Also led the punching and kicking in class which is something i'm still getting used to. I'm so used to being just a student that i forget i'm leading people some times and just want to exercise.

Late Night

Today, I went to work with the summer camp again. It wasn't as bad as it could've been, I ended up going swimming and was very tired after work. When I got home I played some games and went back to TKD to do sparring and help with class. When I got back, I ate dinner, we had salmon and mashed potatoes, but after that I played more videogames and then I went down here and wrote this. Goodnight everybody.

Shaving a porcupine

Does anyone know how to do that? Me neither.  So on to sparring class... I must say that I do like how Instructor Max teaches sparring.  I don't mind doing kick practice, it is more fun when you are given combos that don't usually get paired to practice.  And there is a lot of good talent for sparring in both the instructors as well as the students.  It was great watching how some people performed tonight.  I need to remember to go get a new mouth piece this weekend.  Between the mouthpiece and my gloves I was shedding black pieces all over the mat the entire class.  Time up upgrade the gear.

Hello again

I forgot to blog yesterday - and remembered about 12:05 am so it was too late to do anything. Today was a good day for getting requirements done.  I led warmups and helped with class and also we had sparring so that's three all in the course of a couple of hours.  I managed to squeeze in a walk before work and shorter one during lunch as well.  And I got a lot of physical items done during the day, too. It's currently unclear if we're having sparring next week given that it usually conflicts with color belt testing so we'll have to find out from Master Evins what he wants.  But so far I'm on a good pace with the required classes and I think I know most of my forms.  The main issue is locking in these self defenses and learning my breaking kick.  I'm glad we've got a...

Got up late today so i just got ready and did running credits on the way to class. After i helped out with the 6:20 we had sparring. It was nice to see how others handled the 1v2 challenge, and get some tips from master opi (?) and instructor max. After classes I worked with my mentee  on red belt requirements, and did my forms and my German before bed.

Today was a very long day; I woke up and went to practice. Today was my day off, so I did some core and resistance band work. I then came home and did more requirements. I followed that up by going to work and then sparring afterwards. I then came home, read, and now I am here.

8/1 journal

Today is the first day I’ve reallly felt completely back to normal from being sick. Long day of work, but I was able to get my requirements in at lunch. Today was sparring day, I enjoy sparring but I am always amazed how exhausted I am after 2 rounds.

Chill Day

Today I didn't really do to much, in the morning I ran and after that I just chilled out for the rest of the day until work of course. I did take a nap though that really refreshed me, before I went to work. At King Tiger Harrisburg we had great classes for us, and today was a longer day because we have adult class at the end. So a little slow but we all had a great time and I got to hang out with my friend Avery.

Day #20 - 8/01/2024

Sparring day at the Dojang. I met with mentee for an early start, worked up some sweats and stretched. Played middleman during sparing, dynamic but controlled. Finally I shared some sparring tips with the class.

Today I woke up and did my chores and my requirements for taekwondo. Then I was super hungry because I can’t eat processed food so I was having a hard time with Figuring out what to eat. Then I watch a movie. Then I did some dancing in my playroom which is basically the bonus room! Then I went to teakwondo and did 2 classes. Then I went on a call with my best friend! Now I am done for the day! Hope you had a good first of August!!

Journal 13 - thoughtful Thursday

I hope everyone had a thoughtful Thursday! This morning I woke up and got ready for the day. I was playing game with my mom, but she was going To go on a walk. I was with Fred while she was gone and we were trying out some of his new toys. Hi, then eat lunch and afterwards I helped rearrange her Sewing room even more! I got Ready for tae kwon do and dropped my brother off somewhere and then my mom dropped me off. I took the 5:15 and helped out at the six. Afterwards it was sparring I got ready and I spar three times today came home after that and eat dinner. I hope everyone had a thoughtful Thursday and is excited for a fantastic Friday!!! Kicking and Sweating

I was up today practicing my previous self-defenses and poomsaes. I continued with that until I went to class to assist and do the kicking. Anytime I usually sweat is when I kick and spar or run. Had to use the sparring equipment there because I left mine at home. I was thinking there was no sparring today because of the announcement on Saturday that it was pushed to Friday. However, That was for the one in Charlotte not lake Norman. The good thing is my cup was still on just in case I was proven wrong.

12th Journal Entry

Today. I got JUMPED. in sparing class of course. we were doing 2v1s and of course i was the monkey in the middle. i was going against 2 second dons and i think i did good. but some may say i got WHOOPED. (i'm a bo cho by the way teehee) I am in pain and i need to go take a shower. i did my first mentee session :D. Okay i'm done now.

Journal 20: day 2 of camping

Today is day 2 of camping and FLynn is with us. We played in the river and found a snake. Then we came back and did our requirements. After that we sat by the fire and hung out.

LMP August 1

Wow! Can't believe its already August and almost 1/2 way through the cycle...well, 2-3 more weeks.  Got my requirements done...burpies and I are NOT friends, but I'm getting better abd can do more than my pretest.  I went to assist tonight in two classes then we t to sparring.  I did my first of two 2-on-1 fights tonight.  I felt bad because I kept kicking g this one opponent in her bottom. Sorry. I'm short and don't kick as high as others.     Off to get a snack, shower, and bed. I have camp tomorrow and I get to open!!! Yay!

Today, I went to work as a counselor at TKD summer camp and got an instant headache from all the yelling. I went to the pool today and had some fun with the kids. When I got back we ate lunch and played games and I told a pirate story. I then went home to rest. Then, I went to back to TKD for a mentor session with Instructor Nate, a leadership credit from helping with line drills, a class assistance credit, and then a sparring class where I got kneed in the thigh but it was an accident so it’s all good. I then came to take a shower and here I am now. Goodnight everyone!

day one camping

so this morning i woke up and did my requirements.then we packed up the truck and left for boone. so far we have gone into the stream and i busted my lip on a big rock, and submerged myself under the cold stream water. we also went to the camp lounge and chilled. we are about to eat dinner and may go swimming in the deep part of the stream that was waist height. oh and i also played cookie clicker. today was fun. goodbye

Day #19 - 7/31/2024

This was a training day. Practiced Taekwon 1-3, Taeguks, Koryo, and Taebek. Also ran 2 miles in 20 minutes. During the black belt class we practiced staff forms 1-5, short stick forms 1-4, and some kicking combos.

Journal - Day 19

Good morning, everyone! Yesterday was a tiring day. I didn't feel the best yesterday, so I decided to keep it easy on my requirements for the day. I only ran 1 mile and did the normal amount stated per the book. I went to sleep early, hoping today I would feel better, but I was wrong. My core is killing me, and I've had the worst headache since yesterday night. I wanted to go to sparring today but doubted it based on my body. I am planning to take a rest and leave it super easy today. Have a wonderful day!

Refresher

This day I was doing my requirements, yesterday I was glad to get a refresher of 1rst Dan self-defense, It seemed like I don't see it showcased often and was surprised I was still able to know it all this time. After that I read my book and ate an Italian sub sandwich.

Was able to jog 2 miles this evening after class. Hopefully i can do more to get caught up. Might have to do more walking though because that pounding on my back isn't great.

Credits

went to the credit union to put some money in. And rushed to class. I did warmups. So i got leadership 2 and 1 credits, did a mentor session so I got a signature, and a black belt class signature. A total of 4 credits ( a record for me) I almost skipped today, but im glad I went and learned some stick forms and practiced some poomsaes.

Making my sister sad

So I realized yesterday I haven't spoke to either of my sisters in a while, and one in particular I haven't called in weeks.  That's kind of unusual for us not to talk every 1-2 weeks.  So the black belt cycle came up in conversation.  She tells me "Yeah, I can always tell when you are on the cycle because I don't hear from you until it's over".  Ouch.  I didn't realize that was a pattern, so I need to do better and be more mindful about calling.  The cycle can be very time consuming, and part of the challenge is definitely having that work/life balance with this.  Not an easy thing to do when it feels like you are constantly in class, practicing, teaching, learning, sleep deprived, and constantly covered in sweat.

Camping

So tomorrow I am going camping with my family and Declans family and we are going to boone for camping. Today I woke up and played vr. Then I did my requirements. I went to taekwondo and helped with warm ups. Then got a mentee in. I took the next class and got some credits. And after we went to the run. I was speeding on the track. Then we went to wendys which was very good. I got a spicy chicken sandwich and made a weird drink combination that actually wasnt bad. And now Im home and about to go to bed. Tomorrow I start my nutrition challenge which is no gluten, which is literally everything. Well, I guess not everything but alot of things. It's gonna be a tough month. Goodnight.

Today I woke up and had my first cross country practice. I got to lead the new runners in a easy run today, which was amazing since I got an opportunity to pass down some of the knowledge I have gained from fellow runners and coaches. I then came home and got ready for work. Work was really good, I enjoyed spending time with some of my close friends. I then went to bible study, got Chik-Fa-La and now I am here.

Today I woke up this morning and ran a mile with my Dad. I came home and finished my exercises.  I also worked on some of my 5th grade work and took a nap before going to my baseball tryouts. I worked hard and did a great job at my tryouts.

Lifting Day

Today I woke up early in the morning and did some lifting at the gym with my dad, I also knocked out some requirements while I was there so that was good. After that I went home to chill out and play. After that I went to work and we had a good day with all the classes and everything. I got all my needed classes done and saw Jakhye there so it was overall a good day.

Haven’t Got Time for the Pain

I went to Sam’s Club with my Mom this morning and my lower back was hurting. I could not remember doing anything in particular that would cause that. After a while, I had to do random forward folds in the aisles to get a good stretch in for relief. My mother pretended to not know me….hee hee. After returning home, I was able to get my requirements in and a short nap before heading to the dojang. Class assistance, meeting with my mentor and black belt class completed my day. It was good going over stick and staff forms in BB class. Nighty-night!!

When I woke up I had breakfast and then lacrosse camp. I came home, chilled and watched the Olympics.  I went to Taekwondo and practiced knife and sticks. LMP July 31

Today was slightly different.  I got up, did a few of my requirements,  then had day 1 of a math training.  Came home, took a cat nap - well, I tried- completed my physical requirements. I went to the 6:35 class hoping to assist,  but there were only two kiddos, so I worked on single sticks forms 1,2 3, and 4. Went to blackbelt class, worked on staff forms 1,2 3,( I need support with 2, 3) and haven't learned 4 yet. Then we did our dingle stick forms 1,2,3,4 and bolo. It's always a good class when the weapons cone out!

Hi today I woke up and ate breakfast and then we went to the pool. I was very mad when we had to leave I wanted to stay but at the pool I did planks the side of the pool I use as a pull up bar and then pull ups and did are poomsaes in the  pool  we try to guess each other’s poomsaes . We went to this amazing restaurant it is super nice food. Then we went shopping well that’s the end of my day see you tomorrow.

Today is the day we went camping. While we were camping we met some friends. We went in the stream, explored and splashed each other. Then one of them had to leave. Then we came back had dinner then explored more came back then had s'mores.  It’s taking a while for the campfire to get going.

Defenses and Poomsaes

Today I worked up on pull-up bars before heading to class during that time I did a mentee session with someone, did a class assistance and got mentored for my self-defenses and poomsaes. I feel like I am starting to understand my new self-defense as I keep going.

Woke up right on time to help out with the 6:20 class and take the advanced class. Did my physical requirements and dried off after class. Did my German and school work and went to sleep.

Difficult title

So I'm just going to say that I have a hard time coming up with titles to these posts.  Sometimes the title is obvious, days like today not so much.  Right before we left the dojang after PMAA the skies lit up, the wind started blowing, and the rains fell like Noah was outside furiously building a boat.  I drove well under the speed limit with the hazards on, as did pretty much everyone else on the road.  Got home safely, made dinner, and trying to keep my eyes open to finish this and get ready for bed.  Today was filled with  working in the garden some and harvesting the shallots.  Unfortunately two watermelons had blossom end rot, two cantaloupes have split, and the tomatoes are a split, drippy.mess because of all the rain.  On a positive note, the cucumbers are doing quite well for themselves and made a delicious side...

Today was a good day for requirements.  Gabe was off work today and, unfortunately, most of her plans got cancelled.  As a result, we were able to knock out all our physical requirements for the day before lunch.  And then she made an amazing lunch out of a bunch of different leftovers. After I finished up with work for the day, we packed up all our stuff and headed down to the dojang.  We assisted with class, then took class, and then had our PMAA class.  We're testing for our next rank next week instead of the week after so it's going to be very chaotic trying to get everything down during the Cycle. I really need to try to work ahead a little bit on physical requirements - my shoulders and back and arms need a day of rest sooner than October.  I guess we'll see what tomorrow brings.

 So today i woke up and did my requirements early. Then i just chilled and played a lot of vr today. but i didnt go to taekwondo because my parents werent home. then i mowed the lawn but it kept turning off so i got help from my dad. then i ate dinner and worked on one of my essays and i am now doing my journal. it was a good day today.

Chiropracter

Today I got up in the morning to get an adjustment from a place called True Health center. It was very good and we even stayed for a little bit to watch the Olympics which they were playing there. After that I got home and did a bunch of requirements and kind of just chilled for the rest of the day. I played with my airsoft gun and that was a lot of fun and thats it.

Today I woke up and did my requirements for teakwondo. then I did my chores. Then I did more of my requirements for taekwondo. Then I went through my dads Star Wars cards. But he doesn’t have any good ones. After that I played a bird game. Then I watched the movie. Now I’m done for the day.

Journal #18: Vacation

Tomorrow is the day we go camping. We will pack the car in the morning. I will work on my requirements while there. I will keep my book updated in case I have Internet connection issues at the campground. If I miss my online documentation it’s because I cannot connect to the internet. Hi today, I woke up and I had to get ready for breakfast. It was At Hilton head diner I got Oreo pancakes! We went to the beach after breakfast I did boogie boarding and swimming under the waves. It was really fun!  We got back home And I did some requirements. I did sit ups and push-ups and Burpee. My dad made or I mean, cook Rock Seabass And another fish I can’t remember the name of. I ate them I love that bass Then I played a board game with Caleb and that was my day. Goodbye see you tomorrow!

Journal - Day 17

Good afternoon, everyone! Yesterday was a long day. I wasn't able to go to Tae Kwon Do yesterday since I had a few more things to edit on my final exam. After finishing my exam, me and my parents went shopping and got a few things. I was able to finish my requirements before my brother came home from class. I can officially say I have finished my civics course!! I am very happy with the work I put in and super excited since today was my actual first day of summer. Today, we headed over to TKD, helped out with summer camp for a bit, and then helped out with the classes. The classes went well, and I got leadership credits and a mentee session. I also finished my requirements for the day and did some during class with the kids as well. Have a wonderful day!

7/30 no tech day

Today I did one of my 2 no tech days. I found it quite productive not having any distractions. I was able to work on my new skill, some of my book essay, and 2 day's worth of requirments (-kicks). Overall a very productive day

Is it Friday yet?

It's already been a crazy week at work. I'm still keeping up with my requirements. I've been trying to get everything done before work because I seem to be working through all breaks lately. Ice cream is but a distant memory at this point. I wonder if I'll even like it in 10 weeks.

LMP July 30

Today I got up, did my requirements....I am getting better at burpies. I can get 15 in 2 minutes, as compared to my 6 at pretest. I also did my situps, and can get about 20ish in 2 minutes.  Plank seems to be the easiest thing for me.  Pull ups for me may not happen,  however,  I work daily with my resistant band to build up my muscles.   I wish I had someone to do my stuff with. It would be nice to practice my self defense with someone Aldo going through the cycle....or even the requirements to push me or cheer me on. For those of you who have parents, guardians,  siblings, spouses, ect taking this journey with you, be thankful, be happy, and appreciate it.....because it's a lonely journey when you do everything alone daily.

10th Journal Entry

Today i was at camp but i left a little early to get some pull ups in because we don't have a pull up bar at our school. I did triple my pull ups and then did some jump roping. I did a double under :D. But it was with a speed rope. This black belt cycle has been fun. Mostly because i have some friends that like doing physical stuff. (i don't know why lol.) Okay i'm done now.

I'm a Babysitter

Today I slept in, that felt good to do but I did my exercises and ran my miles. Then, I went to go be a babysitter for the first time. I say that it went well and I did good with it. Afterwards I got payed $30 and went home. I came into my house to see that my brothers were playing games and I am going to go to TKD in a little while. Bye Everybody.
