TGIF

Although this was a short week for me, it felt like a normal full week. I am thankful that it is Friday. Nate and I both have to keep up the momentum on the training, but I am looking forward to a little bit of down time. My wife and I are going out with some great friends Saturday night, so that should be fun. Not sure where yet, just it usually involves some adult beverages. I was in black belt class today when I realized how far I have come in Tae Kwon Do, and how much I have learned. We spent a portion of the class reviewing solid belts, and I did pretty well. It is amazing that I have worked through each of those belts over the years and had to learn more and more each time... much of it has retained in my both my mind and body. I...

Crazy Friday

Today it is Friday. Yay!!! I went to school after a crazy morning. After school I went home and did my daily requirements for BB. After doing that I ran. When I got back I drank some water and went to my friends house. I played with my friends for a few hours. Then I came home for dinner. After dinner I got on my pajamas and watched Supergirl with my family. Then I went to sleep.

Today was the last day of school this week. Nothing really happened today so I have nothing to report.

Journal 2

It was 17 degrees outside! Like what?!?! We still had to go to school though. But it wasn't that bad, today we didn't do anything it was like a "relaxed" day at school. I had no homework since it was a Friday. So when I came home I got to fit in a lot of requirements for the day. I then went to my music class and came back at around 8:00. Then our cousins came over and we had dinner together. But then they eventually had to leave, sadly. But at least  the weekend finally came!

jumping with weights on my legs?

Ever jump on a trampoline for along time, then jump normally without the trampoline? There is this really cool effect I felt, because after I jumped on a trampoline for a long time it felt as if I jumped with weights on regularly. It felt weird. Anyways, today was a normal day for me at school. I had one quiz I had to do, then the rest of day was just classwork. I woke up in the morning to do my requirements and was able to finish after I got home from school. Then I went out to Defy Gravity with friends and hung out for a hour. My body is still sore. It was fun though because we got to spend sometime with our friend who is leaving to NC State on Sunday. I didn’t really do anything else today. Hopefully everyone had a great day!

Journal - Day 4

Got up this morning and got ready for school. Normal day at school. Came home and had a snack. Went for a run. Got ready for Black Belt Class. We worked on self-defense, poomsaes, and kicks for solid color belts. We also worked on Bo Cho Dan / Koreo. Went out for dinner at Jason's Deli, and then came home. It has been a long day and ready to go to bed.

Jet lag from a 16 hr time zone change is a killer.  Got back to a proper gym so feeling better.  Bomb cyclone and snow hampered today but looking forward to staff work tomorrow.  Looked at my calendar and there is a LOT of travel in my Q1.  Worried that I will not be able to train like I want.

Journal - Day 13

Yesterday was an amazing day as I got in credits for helping out the 6:45 family class. Then, I took Black Belt class in which we did poomsaes and the poomsae game which helped and corrected my poomsaes a lot. I also got in my first Mentor session with master Cavazos. Today I have a two-hour delay and I am very excited to get in some of my requirements before school.

Long but Good Day

Today was a very long day. Started with early morning exercises, got the kids out and off to school, and then started my work day. Now, my commute today was about 10 feet to our home office, so I cannot complain too much. No traffic today. Full day of work stuff... many emails, phone calls, and fire drills (typical day). Got what I wanted accomplished to do at work, so all in all -- good day. Then went to Novant Health Wellness center this afternoon to get my father setup with on a physical fitness program. He is a cancer survivor -- and is cancer free and recovering. However, we has lost a ton of weight and actually needs to gain weight -- but the good kind (muscle mass). Rushing Thursday

Today I woke up. I didn't wake up on my own, my father woke me up. I was supposed to do some requirements but I was so tired I went to my mother and father's bedroom and went back to sleep. Then I woke up and got ready to go to school. After what seemed like forever I finally went back home. I did my daily requirements and then went to TKD class. After class I went home and ate dinner. After dinner I went to sleep.

salty salt on the rocky roads

I was really confused when I saw salt on the local roads near me, when I was heading to Tae Kwon Do. I then looked on my phone and realized it is 16 degrees outside in the morning. 16 degrees! Anyways, today was a "chill" day at school. I had a meeting to attend in the morning, so I couldn't do my morning part of the requirements. I was able to finish all my requirements though, because I didn't have much homework. We played this poomsae game in Tae Kwon Do, which really tested you on how much you really knew the poomsaes. Every ones favorite was when we had to burpees when your group messed up. Anyhow, hopefully everyone had a great day today!

Second day back from winter break

Today was my second day back from break. I saw my friends for the first time in weeks and I got to start gym. This week is been hard since I am used to going to bed at 10 P.M. and waking up at 1 P.M. it has been very tiring and fun to restart the cycle and get back into my habits.

today I went to black belt class and finished up all of my poomsaes and sit ups. it was a lot of fun because we got to do all of our stuff and after that we did a poomsae competition and it was so fun. thank you for reading and have a good day :)

Journal 1

It was my second day back from winter break. It was freezing outside, it was like 20 degrees. I expected a two hour delay from school but nope that didn't happen. I didn't have much homework since it was a 3 day week and we didn't learn much so I got to fit in some of my requirements when I came home. I then went to Tae Kwon Do and took black belt class. One more day and the weekends here!

Journal - Day 12

I hope everyone had a great Winter Break. I finished my winter break two days back with an extremely cold start. Yesterday, I finished all my requirements throughout the day. I managed to do a few push-ups and sit-ups during P.E, which really helped. Since it was a freezing yesterday, I couldn't go for my run but I went to class and got credits for leading and helping the class. I am hoping that the weather gets warmer so I can run outside soon.

Back to work again

I have been back to work for 2 days now. It is good to be back and I am looking forward to the challenges that I will be presented with this year. The kids went back to school today. I think the adults in the family were looking forward to the kids going back, the kids on the other hand would have liked the vacation to last longer. :-)

cold. very cold.

Today was the first day back to school. Most of my teachers took the work light, to ease into school. I didn't have much homework today, so I was able to get my requirements done. I woke earlier than usual as well to get some of my requirements done as well. Winter finally hit as well. It was literally below freezing when I went to school today. It was overall a non- stressful day for me.

Back to Work

Today was my first day back to work since holiday break. Starting with "hump" day... not a bad way to start the week. Not real overwhelming as I work remotely when I am not traveling. I travel a fair amount for my job, so it is good not be away this week. I am trying very hard to keep my travel to a minimum during this testing cycle. Unfortunate for my team at work as I will be delegating more travel to them. :-)  Nate did another day of exercises and it is going pretty well. I believe my biggest challenge is with pull-ups. I bought a pull up bar for the house (one of those that hooks onto the door jam), and so Nate and I can practice. Journal Day 3

Today was the first day back to school. Two of my friends are fighting and not hanging out. If I hang with one and not the other than I cannot win. I am struggling with what to do. Classes were normal. I got my recommendation letter from my PE teacher. Came home from school and went for a run with my dad. Had dinner and finished exercises. We also watched some TV. Now I am writing this journal. Going to head to bed soon. Tomorrow is another big Tae Kwon Do day.

So I guess this is my first post. Today I tried to go outside, but it was 21 degrees outside. They wouldn’t let anyone go outside. Earlier this year, they asked if I wanted to be in the video tour. I said yes, but I wasn’t in it at all.

Journal - Day 11

Yesterday was a tiring day for me as I started my first day of school from winter break. I finished all my requirements throughout the day. Even though it was really cold, I still managed to get a couple of miles in. Can't wait to get back into the class!!

Playdate

Today I had a friend over. We played video for a while and then we ate lunch. We also played a trick on our neighbors. Then we played outside some more before she had to leave. After she left, my brother's friend came over to play.

Getting back into the rhythm of school. Today was the last day of vacation for me. I did all my requirements today and spent some time to relax before school starts. I planned out how to complete the cycle today and what I have to do each day.

Back in the US

For me, January 1 lasted about 37 hours due to crossing the international date line on the way back from Australia.  Returned from 80 degrees at the beach to 14 degrees in New Jersey and a broken furnace.  Today was spent dealing with that (and jet lag). That's ok..... one small setback in a bigger picture.  But on a plus note, at least my diet clean up is on track.  Looking forward to the gym tomorrow!

Hello, Hello

This is my first journal entry for this cycle. So far, today has been pretty relaxing. I didn't have to work early this morning, thank god. But, I do have to work at 3:15 today at King Tiger Lake Norman. All that I have been doing today is doing some of my requirements and getting some shopping done. I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how to enter my requirements online though. There is a tab on my profile that says "edit/view tracking" which brings me to everyone else's tracking. I just cannot seem to find a place where it says to edit mine. Hopefully I figure that problem out soon. well, I shall get back to doing some requirements before I have to go to work.     It's the last day of winter break. My sisters and I have been sick most of the break but I've been doing everything I need to. And since the science channel is doing a huge Mythbusters marathon, I've been watching that while doing the exercises.

I hope everyone had a great start to the new year, "2018". I had a very relaxing day yesterday as I finished all my requirements early in the day. The rest of the day I was preparing for school tomorrow as my "Winter Break" was over. I just can't wait for "Spring Break"!!

a blank page for new memories to be written

It feels really weird to be typing, or to be writing, 2018 now. Anyways, Happy New Year everyone! I had a blast to celebrate the end of the year with my family and friends. I went down to the beautiful Key West and enjoyed time with my family, but all good things come to an end- sadly. I really had to catch up on my sleep today, because of all the journeying. It felt really nice to be waking up in my warm, cozy bed today. It felt really refreshing! Luckily I have no school tomorrow, so I can get back to my normal routine. Still can't believe 2017 flew by: yes, I know it is kind of clichĂ©, but it is the truth. Here comes 2018! Hope everyone had a blessed vacation and New Year!

thank you that 2017 is finally over and now that 2018 is here . this was a fun day and i cleaned up all my christmas stuff. we did all of our exsrizes in just 30 mins. it was a lot of fun.

Journal Day 2

Woke up this morning and had breakfast at King Tiger. Did not get a lot of sleep. My dad picked me up from the lock in. I came home and laid in bed. I was tired. Then I went down stairs and played some Legos. We also watched the USC game today. They won. We also went for our run today. It was cold. Then I hung out with my family tonight. It was fun. One more day of vacation.

First day of a new year

Today is the first day of 2018. We had a wonderful New Year's eve with great company and good food. We watched the Danish queen's New Year speech and followed it up with "Dinner for One"., before wishing my parents a happy New Year back in Denmark over video chat. Patrick stayed up with us until 1am but Erik went to sleep around 11pm. It was a good end to 2017.

First Day of 2018

It is a cold day... 21 degrees at 9:00am this morning. Picked up Nate at King Tiger Lock-In and he had an awesome time. Thank you King Tiger for hosting. He came home and crashed in bed. Busy morning already. Came home to a house of teenagers (daughter(s) friends). I also have two daughters (Kara and Lexi). Kara is 18 and home from college (University of South Carolina) and Lexi is 16 (Junior in high school -- Lincoln Charter). They both had friends over. My wife and I made breakfast for about 15 teenagers. They ate a bunch, but we had a bunch left over, so we packed it up and I took the left overs down to the Presbyterian/Novant Emergency Room (ER) where my wife works (off exit 23 on 77). We cleaned up from breakfast, saw the group of teenagers off, and started to get the house back in...

Journal - Day 9

Happy New Year everyone. It was extremely cold yesterday. I did not go out for my daily run. I finished all my requirements for the day. Watched the Panthers game which we lost badly. I wish Cam and the offense could have played better. Schools for cabarrus open tomorrow and i am really looking forward to seeing my friends at school. Have tons of assignments and projects this week at school.

Journal Day 1

I got up this morning and started thinking about what to do. Then I remembered I had the King Tiger New Years Lock In tonight. After that I did some things like working on my new Lego sets and then started making a S.W.A.T truck out of Legos as well. Then went for a run with my dad. Right after the run I got my five rounds of jump rope in. I came in watched some TV. Then I started making a Police station out of Legos. I have plans to have a garage, two prison sells, a weapons room, command center. Then on the roof, I will have a Helicopter Landing Pad and a big sodality dish. I am very excited about the Lock-In tonight. I now need to go do some additional exercises and start to get ready.

Last Day of 2017

I decided to take some time this morning and reflect back on my year. It has been pretty interesting year for me. I started a new job in April of 2017. It has been a challenge but something I wanted to do. It is really the dream job for me and I continue to be excited. I get to do something I love doing, even if it means I am away more than before. But my children are older, so I think the impact is less than when they were younger. I also make sure that when I am home, I dedicate time and attention to them. The same really applies to my wife and home life as well. When I am home, I work hard to pick up the slack and even do extra knowing that I will be away again soon and will not be there to help. Journal - Day 8

Hello Everyone! Yesterday was a great day. My mom and i went to the annual boot camp and it was really very tiring. My legs were dead by the time we came back home. I had done the 12 days of Christmas workout the day before and with the boot camp i was really tired. I came back and still finished all my requirements for the day. We watched some movies and then i went to bed.  My buddies Taylor and Bailey were in my group workout during the boot camp. My mom and Ms. Ursula were a team. Wish everyone a very happy new year!! 2017 coming to an end

This morning I got up and went to the King Tiger 2018 bootcamp. It was really challenging and a good reminder that I am probably a bit out of shape, I hope this cycle can help fix that. Later today we will have some friends over for dinner and just have a good time.

Yesterday was a great day as I got more requirements done than my usual day because my "gang" came over to practice with me on my poomsaes and self defense but we ended up doing the "12 days of Christmas" workout together, which made us all tired and very soar. I am going to the boot camp today and I am very nervous and soar from yesterday!!!

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. I finished all my requirements including my running. I practiced with my sister on her poomsaes and self defense up to red belt. Once I finished my poomsaes and self defense with my sister, I had fun with my family for the rest of the day. I can't wait for 2018!

Still in Australia

One word _ Azithromyacin (sp?). Great stuff.  Two days into 3 day treatment and sinus infection under control.  Went for a run on the beach.  Getting back at it.  I am very much looking forward to coming home and getting back into a training routine. Travel combined with family obligations really screws up training.

Journal - Day 5

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. Yesterday, I finished all my requirements with my sister. My entire "gang" came over, which included the Dulins (Bailey ,Taylor & Kamden), Brice & Greg .Then we played for about 3 hours together. I got a lot of physical requirements done yesterday with my best friends and my sister. Yesterday was the best!!

Late Christmas (3)

Today I went to my grandfather's house in Spartanburg. It was a hour drive there. Once we got there we hung out with them and opened our presents. We were going to see the new Star Wars movie for the second time but didn't because my nana wasn't feeling well.

Family trip to Spartanburg

Today we took a family trip to Spartanburg to see my wife's dad and his wife. We had planned to take my father-in-law go see The Last Jedi but unfortunately that didn't work out. Instead we went to the Beacon to satisfy a craving for a chili cheeseburger a-plenty. It has been more than 2 years since we went to the Beacon last and it will probably take 2 years before we go back. The Beacon just isn't what it used to be or maybe it is me who has changed. :-)

Journal - Day 4

Good morning everyone!! Yesterday was a very good day. Me and my sister worked together on all our poomsaes and self defense up to red belt, which she is. She will be testing for her high red belt in the next testing and I am preparing me and her for the upcoming events. I finished all my requirements including my running, which I did 3 miles of. I tried running throughout the streets in my community and it was very hard due to the incline.

First Run (2)

Today I ran my first mile for my black belt. My grandmother left today after staying here for a few days. I also hung out with my brother for a while and made a few videos so one of our neighbors can see what we have done while they have been gone. We finished a few Legos we got for Christmas. My favorite one is Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle.

Australia

Greetings from Australia.  The plan was to get some really good training in while in Australia. Then the plan became "maintain".  I've barely done it.  Pretty much traveled every day here with family in tow and been fighting off a sinus infection.  Gave up fighting and hit the antibiotics today.  Been running and doing pushups, etc. on Bondi Beach a few mornings while in Sydney.  Looking forward to ramping up when I get back to the States on 1/1.

Enjoying the time off

I have the rest of the year off of work. That gives me some good time to spend with them family, and get started on my requirements. Getting back to running was a little tough and my legs are sore but in the end the running should be the easy part for me. Now it is time to get back to enjoying the rest of the afternoon with the family.

Step 1

Started my day with 2 sets of push-ups and sit-ups before driving from Virginia Beach to work. I then did two more sets of each after work. I am ready to get back into full swing after a very busy restaurant month.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Yesterday was a very relaxing day as I finished all my daily requirements and had extra time afterwards. I utilized it by doing one of my main essays! After that, I just enjoyed the rest of the day!

Yesterday was a great day! I have got all my requirements done for the day including running, which I did three miles of! In the afternoon and evening, I watched a few football games including the Panthers vs. Buccaneers and the Cowboys vs. Seahawks as I got a few requirements done while I was watching the game. Day 1 - Journal

Hi everyone, I'm taking the Spring 2018 cycle and I'm super excited to get it started. I took sparring and BB class this morning and a got few credits in. Sparring was really tough and now I am very soar and I am trying to recover! I went over my poomsaes and self defense in BB class.

Thanksgiving and essays 11/29/17

Wow, Thanksgiving at home in Arkansas was great but the caloric intake caused havoc with my training.  I was able to get in three days of some exercise.  That was enough so that when I got back 2 days ago I was not completely starting from zero again.  My runs and workouts this week have not been great but I am bouncing back nicely. Today I finished my pre-history of Korea essay.  Yea!  I now have only one left to do.... an essay on going a day with earplugs and experiencing what deafness might be like.  I chose deafness because I am already going slightly deaf in one ear (my left) and need to experience what I may end up like in a few years.

November 13

Woke up tired today.  Yesterday's workout must have taken more out than I realized, which is not good because that was not a replica of the PE test.  Mind was also distracted with job stuff.  Went home, worked, went back to gym at lunch and did all my forms, stick and staff included.  going to bed now (8:50) to be sure to get up early tomorrow and get in a workout before work.  going to be a long week. On the plus side, I am on page 11 of my pre-history of Korea paper and just got started on the final section.  I should have it done soon, definitely before I go to Australia.

November 11

Good news.  I can log in via my work iPad without being blocked.  Still trudging along. Since changing my workout at the start of the last BB cycle I have increased my bench press by 50 lbs.  I do not think I have ever had that big of a gain.  I had to back off running a bit and no running on pavement due to fluid on the knee.  Taking a week off, a compression sleeve and pre-meds of NSAIDs before workouts have the knee back to normal size.  I ran 3 miles on the treadmill today at a 9 min mile pace and everything good so far.  I need to finish up my pre-history essay before I go to Australia in December so I only need to focus on physical stuff starting in Jan.

11/1/17

New month, more training.  I've had to cut back a bit.  Injured fluid filled knee causing some issues but a brace and cutting back on running seems to be helping.  Just focusing on weights and pushups, pull ups, etc., for the time being.  Laid off TKD classes as well for 1.5 weeks but will go to a BB class tomorrow.  I also have 8 pages on my pre-history of Korea paper done!!

Still training.  This week was busy with travel and other diversions and fluid on my knee so I took it a bit easier.  Ellipitical instead of running, skipped TKD classes, but still got in my physical stuff. Possible changes at work are a bit distracting. Looking forward to getting re-focused on Monday.

10/18/17

My work computer blocking me from this site is getting to be a pain...   Training goes on.  TKD class last night.  Lifted this morning and went up a tad in weight on all exercises.  I know I repeat this but I am still surprised at how switching my workout to include more pushups, sit-ups and pull ups and spacing out my lifts to 1 or 2 times a week has improved my strength.   Work is kinda slow at the moment which is nice because it gives me a little extra free time that I am trying to put to good use for my essays.  I pretty much have them done.  The pre-history one is the most difficult.  Typically writing is fairly easy for me.  This essay is difficult to push through for some reason.  I think it is because there is a lot of divergent opinions on the subject...

I am glad I have extra time to train and prepare. Typically I run on a treadmill to go easy on my knees and feet but at testing I'll be on the road.  Running on the treadmill is easier so I run outside every now and then.  Today the goal was to run for 50 min straight.  I paced myself so I was likely running less than a 10 min mile.  But I did run for 50 min and boy can I tell it.  Quads and feet are already sore.   Keep on pushing... a little each day. I also added about 4/3 of a page to my pre-history of Korea paper!

King Tiger Black Belt is now blocked on my work computer!  That's gonna make entries next spring when I am traveling a lot a bit more difficult.  Treated myself to a late morning and went to the gym at lunch.  It is amazing how physical performance changes during the day.  Running at 10 am vs 6 am equates to at least 30 seconds to a minute improvement in time.  Today I went 1.5 miles at an 8:21 min/mile pace.  I think that is a personal best.  The only downside is that improvements in running take away from the burpees.  Only managed 17 today.  I have gotten in as many as 30 in a row. Gotta work on those some more. Keeping on keeping on.

Hope all the sophomores and juniors did well on their PSAT today! I didn't have to go to school today but I went to pick up some friends and we all hung out. Went to grab food, the mall, then we went thrifting. Its been a long day, now I have to work on my applications.

10/11/17

Congratulations to all those that tested last weekend!!  I continue my training. Backed off the physical training a bit the past few days and devoted that time to writing essays.  My goal is to have all of them done before year end so starting Jan 2018 all I have to focus on is physical stuff and forms.  3.5 pages of Pre-History of Korea typed up.... a good start. Today I didn't do much.I went to school and now im going to leave for scouts but I don't have school tomorrow because they have testing for sophomore's and Junior's.

Early Application Week!

I'll be pretty busy working on early applications this week because the deadline for NC State + Chapel Hill is this Sunday! Each requires 2 essays, which should be fairly easy. I've had a lot of practice this cycle and in English class so I'm confident in my writing skills. I plan to apply to only 2 schools this week, because "Free Application Week" is coming up near the end of the month. I intend to take full advantage of the waivers and apply to many other schools that I've kept in consideration.

Today I could barley wake up to goto school i was still tired from the testing. I went to class and helped out and got a mentee session with Taylor.

today was super boring. my body hurt and the hype of testing has already slowed down. i didnt get to hang out at all today, i just had to be around the house. it was very uneventful

today was the day of the public test. my whole family and my girlfriend and sister came out to watch, so i had to impress them. everyone said i did very well at testing. i even broke 3 bricks! im still very nervous though, i made the mistake of not doing my journals. but when master evins asked me why, i told him i didnt have an excuse. and its true, there is no excuse

Well, tonight is the big night. Took the day off from work so that I could rest and review. At this point I either know it or I don't. Hoping that the evening goes smoothly and that we are not there too late. Fingers crossed!

Math Miracle!

Today I walked into math class, utterly clueless that we had a test. I still have no idea what a vector is and what purpose it could possibly serve me in the future, but I walked out of the end with a 93. I'm still in awe, I promise I only used legitimate methods. Hopefully, more miracles like this will happen. Especially in my AP Psychology and Chemistry Classes.

Testing, Here I Come!

Tomorrow is testing, and I'm super nervous but also excited. I'm ready, after over 3 months of preparation! I have a lot of schoolwork, so I'd better get to that, and for everyone testing tomorrow, GOOD LUCK(hopefully you won't need it)!!!!!

Ok so I'm really excited because today was the day before over night testing yes so school was nice then after school I went back home and did a whole lot of selfdefence after that I ate dinner and then we waited for an hour getting ready to go to tae kwon do and then we went to tae kwon do we worked hard then I came back home tired and then I went to bed good night

Today I decided to lift and go heavy. I'm still surprised at how cutting back on lifting and doing more pushups, etc. has helped my traditional weight workout. Tonight is a BB class and I need to save a bit of aerobic capacity for that. I finished a first draft of an essay yesterday which is a big checkmark. Going to start research on pre-history of Korea now.  Also need to start learning the final two or three forms/self-defenses.  Keep on swimming, keep on swimming.

Today was awesome I did school stuff I checked another grade and I got 100 it was amazing then I came back home we went to tar kwon do we worked on our side kicks then after that I went home and worked on my lego drop tower for a science fair what I trying to do on it is make it stop before it hits the ground or crash for those of you that don't know what a drop tower is it is a fair ride and goes to the top and it drop you stomach herts after then after that I worked on my self defence defense and poomsaes with my brother and then I ate took a shower now I'm going to bed good night oh and prepare for Friday night I'm excited see you then
