Pool time with Friends and Tae Kwon Do

Today we had good friends come with us to the pool.  It was a fun time. Then I went to King Tiger for 3 hours. I help with 3 classes, took a class, and got mentored.  My hips were so open and my kicks felt great by the end of the night.  Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment and have to train a lot of boot camps.

Entry #22: 30 July 2019 Very Productive Day

Today was pretty good. I woke up at a decent time and got a lot of requirements done; also, I’m almost done with my portrait for my new skill, which I’ll post to the Facebook group when I’m finished with it. I’m also almost done with writing down the questions and most of the answers for the written test.

7/30/19 Ouch

Not sure what I did to my shoulder. Maybe my arms are at the wrong angle, or just trying to do too many at once, but my pushups did not feel very good today. On a better note though, I am feeling better with the first four Tae Kwon forms. I reminded one of the ladies I work with, who I worked with when I was on my first black belt cycle, how we used to do pushups in the office. I was recently talking with the other who I worked with then, but I don't work with any more. From then, she did 30 pushups every morning. She told me that now she does 60.

When running this morning. I got a new app called Zombie Run, hopefully it will keep interested in running. Today and yesterday I've been practicing the ASL alphabet by spelling campers names. Its pretty fun, and it been helping me remember all the signs. The campers went to see Sing at the movies today. Most of kids (both king tiger kids and other camps) were singing and clapping along with the movie. I worked on self-defense and hopkito with Master Natasya. After work, I went to the gym with my mom and worked out. We haven't done that in awhile, but I really enjoyed it.

Pull ups and back strength

Pull ups have always been a struggle for me. If I am not consistently working on them I lose my strength quickly. With that being said having not been able to use my core and back for over a month, so pull up game is not strong. Today was back and bicep day at Boot Camp. I needed to keep reminding myself that my strength will come back in time and I do you to just be patient.

Entry #21: 29 July 2019 Shift in Art

Today started out a bit rough, but I was able to use my requirements to help clear my mind by almost losing myself in what I was doing. Also, I shifted what I worked on with my art from my self-portrait to a 2-page spread art journal that I had to do for my AP Studio Art class. Thankfully my shoulders decided to cooperate a bit more today than they have been.

7/29/19 Finally logging in...

I guess I'm back at it again. Kind of... It was easier than expected to get the tracker all caught up. It seems harder to get motivated to get stuff done this time. You would think it would be easier after having done it several times previously. I have had some family issues to deal with over the past few months, but it has been really nice to have the opportunity to spend so much time with my younger brothers and their wives and kids. I do not get that opportunity very often, and appreciate it even more lately. I do not get many requirements done while I am there, but did walk from the Museum of the American Revolution to my brothers house in South Philadelphia in ridiculous heat. That was probably not the brightest idea I've had and I saw some parts of Philly that I would likely have...

Fitness trip is over and back to summer living - 7/28-7/29

Sunday was an eventful day which was filled with the last sessions of my fitness conference, driving home to pick up our old minivan in SC since we got a new one (which my husband picked up the day before), and got to see my family again. Today was back to the mom grind. School shopping, cooking, doctor's appointments, and lots of TKD.  Summer is flying by :(

So, I realize I'm older than the typical tech savvy young person, but I just can't figure out how to change my rank on this website.  If anyone can give me a hint about how to do it, I would very much appreciate it!   Today was long.  This is the time when I could easily rationalize not doing any requirements, so with that said, I better start doing pushups.

Entry #20: 28 July 2019 Fairly Ordinary Day

Today was fairly ordinary, though I needed to make up the pull-up requirements I missed yesterday despite my shoulders and back being in about the same amount of pain. I got a lot of work done on my painting, which I suspect should be done if not close to done within the next couple of days, and helped my mom make food for lunches for the rest of the week.

Today was a great day I enjoyed it because in the morning I went to take care of some dogs in the morning I stayed there for about a good 5 hours then left the dogs to go home and see my family that came to visit me. I enjoyed the time I spent with them; I haven't seen them in forever, so it meant a lot to me seeing them today. After that, I headed to the gym to workout. I did some requirements when I was there overall a pretty lit day not going to lie.

Entry #19: 27 July 2019 Uncooperative Shoulder

I noticed that my shoulders were having a bad day since waking up, but I tried to do what I could during sparring and black belt class. Once I got home I had to take ibuprofen though, which is something I don't really like to do. I did the requirements I could but my shoulders decided to not let me do as many negatives or even move my arms behind me or above my head for very long. Tomorrow, I will try to make up what I couldn't do today.

My OSO (other significant other) Theresa and I started this tradition 2 years ago and it’s so fun! Yesterday we worked out for about 6 hours and burned a full days worth of calories. We learned lots of fun new moves and got lots of fitness credits in!

Entry #18: 26 July 2019 Baking Fun

Today after I got home from King Tiger, I made cookies mostly for my brother as he's mostly been the one transporting me to summer camp. They were chocolate with peanut butter chips, and before I started I checked to see if I had everything I needed. Apparently, I didn't check how much vanilla I had, because partway through using it I ran out, of course with most of the other components already mixed, so I had to go to the store in the middle of baking to get more. While I waited for batches to bake I set up the next pan and then did poomsaes until the timer went off.

Entry #17: 25 July 2019 Uncooperative run

Overall today was pretty good. I started off the day with a run, trying to reinstate that into my routine both for the cycle and also for cross country. For some reason though, today it felt as if my body was disagreeing with the run with my bad ankle acting up, my shoulders not helping, and my usual breathing issues, but despite this, it felt good to get out there and run.

Entry #14: 22 July 2019 Flying back...maybe not

Today we were supposed to fly back to Charlotte, but the flight got canceled, so we walked around the city a bit more. I wore my new Dr Martens because we were just supposed to be flying, but I didn't get a chance to change my shoes and since they're not broken in, the heat and almost constant walking caused the edge of them to chafe against my calf/ankle; once we got back to the hotel I did switch my shoes to converse before walking around more.

Entry #13: 21 July 2019 Handy Subway

Today wasn't as hot, and we didn't do as much walking as the subway system has been working in our favor as we went from Central Park all the way to Battery Park and to the Empire State Building. I'm finding it interesting how this city doesn't seem foreign or shocking to me as it tends to for most tourists; it feels like I've been here 1,000 times before. Maybe the fact that almost the entirety of my mom's side of the family is from NY and that'd we'd visit Long Island every few years that makes it seem like a second home despite not spending much time in the city.

Entry #12: 20 July 2019 First full day in NY

Today was the 1st full day in NY, It was filled with walking all over Manhatten; I guess it was a mistake to wear Converse as my feet were definitely complaining by evening, but it's fine. I think the Charlotte heat followed us here as it's been almost constantly in the mid-90s.

I tried to access the site during the trip but my laptop wasn't working so I handwrote my journals to be entered when I got back.   Today we left for NYC; I had to wake up early, but the flight went well. It was my first time on a plane since I was 2, ironically also to NY though that time I went to visit family in Long Island. I tried to get in as many requirements as I could in the morning before leaving for the airports. Luray Caverns and Driving Home 7/20-7/21

We ended our trip up North with having family time at the Luray Caverns in VA. We have passed the exit so many times in the past 20 years, and have always talked about going. This trip appeared to be the perfect time to go. It was a great family outing and going down into the caverns during a heat wave was perfect! We all really enjoyed the viewing and learning about the cavern, and then went and did an outside maze. Doing the maze was also a really fun time. We all took turns navigating the route. They also had misters throughout the maze which was KEY on a hot day. We ended the day going to a delicious restaurant for dinner near our hotel, which was a great ending to the day. The kids love staying in hotels, which we don't do very often so they were excited about...

I think I need to Master Evins or Master Marcus, but I think bring your leg up to block a kick is frowned upon or illegal in sparring matches. I could be wrong thought. Library Day at Summer Camp. Decided to pick up a book to help with a new skill (I believe 1st Dans still have to pick a new skill). My coworker/friend got a book in Japanese so hopefully we can meet up and study our languages together. The library didn't have adult languages books so we choose children language book. No shame, I need to start somewhere. Finish reading The Alchemist, going to start the essay this weekend! Finally able to do 10-15 reps of push-ups without stopping going to try to get 20-25 reps. I think its more of mental challenge then a physically one. Also I need to take a rest day so my arms and back and recover.

Entry#10: 17 July 2019 New Keyboard

I accidentally missed yesterday's entry, which I feel bad about, so this journal is both a journal a sort of anecdote. Yesterday a keyboard (as in the instrument, not a computer keyboard) came in but I knew something was off when someone just pulls it out of a sedan, but because Amazon doesn't use solely UPS I thought it was fine. Because I was up in my room working on a painting, it took a few minutes for me to get an opportunity to go bring the keyboard inside; one of the first things I noticed was that the doorbell never rang. Then, when I went downstairs to bring it in I notice that the delivery guy left it in the literal middle of the driveway. Once I brought it in with my brother's help, we notice this gouge in the side of the box and that there were random screws...

That I cannot avoid thing that make me anxious or stress me out. I tend to procrastinate important thing not out of laziness, but because I have a fear of failure. Or I feel...

Today I woke up at about 8:00 AM and went for a 1.5 mile run. When I got back I took a shower and had breakfast. After that I worked on stuff for the cycle and started my role model essay. Then I had lunch and went to my friends house. I got back and went to Tae Kwon Do to help out with the class from 3:45-4:00 and took class from 4:15-5:00. I am looking forward to my first black belt class on Friday and my First Sparring class tomorrow.

Wednesday July 17th

had a great night of sleep...feel good this morning in spite of being a little sore from yesterdays triple workout...just about to head to Raleigh for a couple of days of work. Will attack requirements this evening at the hotel. They have a pretty good fitness room. Worked with Master Weeks yesterday on self-defense...clearly my main weakness at this time. Thank you Sir!!!

First full TKD class!!!

I got to be super active today :) I trained 2 Kidz Camps. I was able to demo everything and work out with them a bit. I also took my first full TKD class in 3 weeks. It was great getting back. Madhavan met with me for my first mentor session after class. We are leaving tomorrow morning to go visit friends in PA. It should be a super fun family trip with great friends and their kids. I can't wait!

My day off, so i wanted to do as many rounds of jump rope but didn't work out the way I wanted it. My knee let me know who the boss was, so I will try tomorrow but don't tell my knee.

Entry #9: 15 July 2019 Readjustment

It feels so odd to be back to my regular schedule. I feel as if I still should be and almost still am at Camp Grace; maybe that's just me missing the camp that is becoming increasingly more like a second home every year I go. One thing I definitely gained from this year is that although I still don't know what I'm going to do after this year of high school, panicking about it won't help; in fact, it'll just waste time and energy so I need to work on trying to not fret about that. I'm still readjusting to my routine not only for being back from camp but also to how I need to adapt my schedule to fit in both my school work and cycle requirements.

cool

Today's walk had a nice cool breeze before the Heat came. The good thing was myself and my work partner today was finish by 12. But that does make the last 3 hours of work long before we clock out to go home. The AC in the office sure did feel good though.

July 15th Journal Entry

Went to the park today for summer camp. We went to Huntersville's Athletic Park which has ton of athletic fields, 3 parks, and little to no shade. I've gotten lots of requirements done (250 of Push-ups and Sit-ups). Finishing the night with a nice long walk with me dog and some yoga.  Two kids tested for there new belts today, it was so cute/awesome to watch!

First Class Back 7/15/19

Super excited that I was able to assist with a class today, lead a class, and take my first class.  I took it easy and did not do any of the exercises and did not kick a target yet. Overall it was great getting kicks in, doing some self-defenses, and pomsaes. My sleep has been off lately so I am tired, but super excited to be able to start back slowly. Tomorrow I'm going to meet with Madhavan for my first mentor session!

Entry #8: 14 July 2019 Day of Creativity

Today I feel slightly more recovered and got in a few more requirements than I have been. I spent most of the day painting as I'm using painting a color portrait as my new skill since I've never done one before and I have to do a self-portrait for AP Studio Art; it's going better than expected, but I won't talk too much about it as I need to save the material for the essay I'll write. Also, my dad and I took a trip to Guitar Center to look at keyboards to replace the one that we used to have but had to get rid of.  Also, because of my back and shoulders, I have been instructed to not do pushups, planks, or anything that requires my arms and shoulders to hold myself up, so the negatives (as I'm not able to do pullups yet) I've managed to do have...

Entry #7: 13 July 2019: Return Trip

Today we packed up and drove back home. From sheer exhaustion, I don't remember a good bit of the day, but I already miss camp. At one point I was tired enough to where I could barely stand (my legs and knees were giving out from hitting a wall of absolute exhaustion).

Entry #6: 12 July 2019 Last Day of Camp

Today I'm still exhausted, but there was too much to get done for me to be able to focus on that. One member of our group had to drive up to New York, and another had to suddenly leave after lunch due to one of his roommates going missing (he found her later in the afternoon but couldn't make it back to camp). Now our group went from 11 people to 8, and today is the "big clean." I had to beat out the rugs in the dining hall because the sand and grass gets everywhere, and I was told to use the mop sticks outside to do so. One of them ended up breaking. I must've been hitting the rugs harder than I thought. directly afterward I had to take a shower as I was covered in water (from other people cleaning rubber mats), dirt from the rug, and sweat...

Entry #5: 11 July 2019 Skit Night

At this point, I've completely lost track of what day it is save for the calendar in my watch. The member that left yesterday for work is back for today, but everyone still had to pull extra work as we are still down one person. Tonight was skit night with an ice-cream social afterward, causing me to get back to the cabin at around 2 am. There was one girl that we had to cut off from any more sugar or caffeine due to the severity of the sugar high she was on. Overall it was fun, but I'm exhausted from both the work from constantly being around people who always want to talk about something. This much social interaction is draining me, and I need a break from it.

Entry #3: 9 July 2019- Day 2 of Camp

Once again I could not get a full night of sleep, so at 05:45 I just decided to get up early to work on a couple of requirements and set up the dining hall early for breakfast. I'm already losing track of what day it is due to the combination of sleep deprivation and the sheer amount of things that have been packed into a single day. I'm really enjoying the sermons Pastor Tom Wycuff is giving during the chapels; it is a series of wisdom and godly wisdom with yesterday's sermon being about identity and tonight's being about what we allow ourselves to speak and whether or not it's helpful to others or not because of how destructive or helpful our speech can be, and I'm finding what he's talking about to be quite helpful and applicable to my own life.

Entry #2: 8 July 2019- First Full Day of Camp

Today was an interesting day at camp, but it felt as if an entire week was fit into a day. I'm definitely not adjusted to working the 18-hour days yet. At around lunch, my group that basically acts like a group of 8 older siblings, discovered that I am quite ticklish and have been jabbing me in the ribs at random times since. Overall it was a busy and long but fun day; it definitely didn't make the day easier when I was unable to get a full night of sleep due to not being used to the cots yet which caused me to wake up every hour or two.

Entry #1: 7 July 2019- Road Trip

The journals made during camp were handwritten as I had no access to the internet for the entirety of the trip.  Today I left for Camp Grace. This entailed an approximately 2.5-hour ride, but I was in a van with 3 other people while my dad rode with one other person; most of the ride was spent sharing stories, making jokes, and playing various road-trip games, which made the ride feel shorter than it actually was. As soon as we got to the camp we set up our bunks and got to work helping at the camp doing just about anything we were instructed to do. At 8:00 pm we attended chapel

Weekend Journal

MY legs are killing me!!! I went to the gym before taking Saturday sparring and black belt class. Sparring class was intense, we worked on speed and making actual physical contact. We did kicks and headshots with minimal pads on, its been a minutes since I've been kicked to the head. I still don't like it, but its not as bad. One girl in the class was an awesome sparrer and I hope I get the chance to spar her again. I've been feeling sore all week, but the soreness doesn't go away because I have not taking a rest day. But I decided to chill on Sunday. Rest, meal prep, and hang out with my cousins. I haven't seen my cousins in week because we all been working so hard this summer.
