Floods in California, spring in February, snow storms raging up north. What an odd winter we are having. I just got off the phone with my parents who live in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California, and they are finally enjoying a couple of sunny days after weeks of constant down pours. The highway that connects them to the town has been shut down due to flooding. It's been a crazy mess there. And the funny thing is, California has been suffering from a severe drought for the last decade. I'm not sure if I admire my parents living and staying in California or think they are just idiots. The state of rolling blackouts, super high taxes, earthquakes, forest fires, mud slides, and now, major flooding, and they want to live there? I grew up there, and it is a beautiful area. Even though it is indeed Thursday, for some reason it really feels as though it is a Friday. Today at school we read about someone named Dorothy Counts and then we wrote a letter to her. Turns out she was the very first black woman to go to Harding High. Though after 4 days, she quit because of white men stoning and flipping her car. Calling her and only knowing her as the n word. And she just knew right away she didn't belong. Her parents sent her to Harding High to get the best education that she could get and what did she get in return? Discrimination to her race. I'm really just not sure how someone can be so rude. Really, what's the point of it? It doesn't do anything in return for you so why do it? It really is just stupid.

Today I my dad woke me up early for school. I accidentally fell back to sleep and almost did it again but I caught myself. I was super tired today and could barely think. Luckily, going to school woke me up and got me ready for the day. I did my requirements and went to bed.

This was a great way to spend my birthday. I'm done with going out, parties, or celebrations. A quiet day at home with the family, and then some Tae Kwon Do with my son. I think I disappointed the wife though. I think she was looking forward to going out for dinner. When she asked me where I wanted to go to eat, hint hint, I pointed at the kitchen and said, I'm where I want to be. So we had tacos and then she gave me my own apple pie (I don't do cake). I almost couldn't move after the pie, but it was time to get to class. So we rolled into class feeling like I was about to burst in a most undignified way. Thankfully this week is finally half over, it needs to end finally. I don't know about everyone else but this week seems to be dragging on and on and on. Instructor Camp is almost only 1 week away and everyone knows what that means! A weekend without sleep!

My friends helped me get 2 miles of running done today. When they came over for a visit, they brought their scooters and we went out with my dad around the neighborhood. It was exciting because I was faster than them.
Today was a long homeschool day. I finished at about 4:00 pm. Once I was done I went to bed and got some rest and had tacos for dinner. I finally found a mentee so this cycle might be going well.
Wednesday, the best day of the week. Now, I LOVE running, like, it's one of my favorite things, but my calves do need a break every now and then. This is going to be my one break per week from now on. I really need to continue going to the gym in the mornings after the cycle just not every day. Especially since it's not as important.
This week is going great so far. The only test I had this week was a math test, and I think I did pretty good on it. Tomorrow on Thursday I have a choir competition in charlotte, so I will miss the whole day of school. The bad part is that I have to wear a tuxedo all day, but I get to miss school. I am not really worried because I don't have any tests so I don't have to make them up. I am really enjoying this week.

I mean, I understand how it was big back then and started a lot of things like the Sepoy revolt and the Opium War and the Boxer rebellion but how will this stuff affect my daily life? Or, how will annotating a book affect my daily life? I mean, we call it talking to the text but, it doesn't even talk back like, dude, where are your manners? Today started good then went down hill. I first went to school and forgot my glasses in my locker so i could not see the bored. Today was such a nice day outside. So I made good use of it and went on a nice run with my mom. It was tiring because I have been using treadmill's at a gym[(Planet Fitness)really good one] and hadn't run on the greenway in a little while. Plus we forgot to bring a water bottle. I enjoy studying about leadership. There's something fascinating about someone who naturally has people follow them with little effort. It's like they have something contagious that others want. I read this book about the 21 characteristics of leadership. Very interesting read. One of the main characteristics that always pop up is compassion. Most would think it would be strength of will or something. But having compassion on your fellow man or woman allows you to lead in a meaningful way. Today I had a day off from school because of Presidents' day. I went to Defy Gravity with my friends and we had lots of fun on the trampolines although I hurt my heels on a trampoline. After playing at Defy Gravity we went to a store nearby that sells used stuff. I bought a wooden bird for $6 and Erik bought some Pokemon cards.

I got up at 9:30 today feeling ready for the day. I worked on my school project and went to the store for supplies. Tonight I went over to my friend's house and we grilled hamburgers over a fire. They tasted delicious! I had five burgers total. This was an excellent day.

After breakfast I ran 4 miles on the Greenway with my Far and my little brother Erik. I was tired at end but it felt really good. I am proud of having run 4 miles.

I guess it's looking like it might be my turn to be coming down with something. I've been fortunate so far, but when your traveling and living in a motor home, there's no escaping the sick people. Had a great time in sparring. Got some good rounds in and a good work out. Black belt class was fun as well. After coming home, I worked on cleaning the motor home, then had to chop some wood for a fire tonight. After that, had to make dinner because the wifie is really sick. It was a taco rice night. Today my family and I got back from Disney World. We had a lot of fun and it took us two days to get home. When we got home I was exhausted from the big trip. We stayed at Disney for four days with our friends the Keiths. We had a good dinner and we are about to go to bed.
Well the vacation is officially over. There is something relieving about that. Fortunately, Trent started feeling better Wednesday morning, so he was able to go out with us and have a good time at Hollywood Studios. We went over to Magic Kingdom Wednesday night so Trent could ride my all time favorite, Space Mountain and a few others. My wife insisted we ride It's a Small World. The boys kept waiting for something cool to happen, it never did. But Space Mountain, that ride and me have some bad history, like oil and vinegar, tofu and southerns, or France and the rest of the world. I think I've figured out what my horrifyingly devastating pain in my arm is. I've been doing this rotater cuff workout for baseball and soft ball players recommended by Instructor Schnieder, so I've been doing it every day and it's still new to my rotater cuff so I think that I've overused it. So I'm going to take a break from those. Hopefully you guys are able to do without falling down on the 5th one.
So I finally went to the doctor on tuesday (havent had a primary care physician in NC since I moved up here) and when I couldn't actually tell them the last time I had a tetanus shot, they suggested I should get one. That is all fine and dandy, but I forgot how the shot can leave lingering pain. Pushups when your shoulder feels like it has a giant bruise is not fun. At least another sparing class is in the books.

here we are, the wait is over and our long waited family vacation has begun. First, Connor starts off being sick (which is incredible rare), with runny nose and feeling miserable. Then yesterday, Trent starts going downhill with bad headaches and tummy aches. This morning, he woke up with a fever. Are you kidding me. Fortunately, Connor is feeling better, so he and I with our friends went to Magic Kingdom. It was fun but I felt so bad for Trent having to stay back at the RV with Katherine. Last time we were here, he was a baby. For those who would, please pray for the boys so we can salvage the last day here. I have been so upset all day long because I got 3, THREE, stains on my world series Indians Jersey.One is mustard, the other two are blood which i'm still not sure what I did to my thumb. I walked in to math class after a Football game and noticed it was bleeding, so strange. I was so happy when I found out they could get washed out. This week is going to be good, but it is also going to be bad too. I am going to tell you the bad news first because I like to do best for last. so the bad news is that I have 3 tests and 1 quiz for this week. I have a test on a really boring book in my literature class on Wednesday, and I have a grammar test, science test and a Spanish quiz on Thursday. some people have taken the literature test already and said it was easy. Spanish and grammar is not really hard. science is the one I need to study a lot on. If I had just a science test I would be fine, but I have 2 other stuff I need to need to focus on too. That is the bad news. The good news is that I got back my Bible...
So i figured I need a "physical" cheat day once a week. Tuesdays are usually the safest because there are no critical classes that i can't afford to miss. On my cheat days I am going to still try to keep up with the physical requirements but I am also going to let myself rest more than any other day of the week.
I don't like doing pull-ups on the monkey bars on the playground. I've missed a few days with doing any pull-ups so i had to do some today. Earning my black belt is tough. I think my muscles will be huge when this is done. We had a Valentines Day celebration in my class today!

Today was a great day. I went over to my friend`s house. When I got there we walked to a restaurant called Moes. We had a good lunch. After that we went home, and we hung out with some other friends. We played a game of 2v2 basketball. All my fiends are really good. After that we went inside with another friend and played videogames. we played a wrestling game. It was very fun. The last thing we did was play basketball again. After that the sad part came. This is the worst thing about hanging with my friends. I had to leave. I hate that time. I am just very glad that a had a great day with my friend.
Mann, I've been too tired this weekend. I kinda slacked this weekend so I'm going to have to do a lot better this week. I ran 2.5 miles today, but my legs got tired quick because of the hour and a half sparring class. I tried this new type of Gatorade called Gatorade Organic. It's actually pretty good. It doesn't have color but is fruit flavored so it's tasty.
today I got to hand out cookies to my grand fathers rest home and then I got to sing for over 12 people it was sooooooooo much fun to do
Well Sunday came and went. Was relaxing (went for a long walk at Jetton Park) and tried to relax. Tomorrow is an important day, my parents get back into town and I can finally hand their puppy back to them and maybe get more than 3 hours of sleep. Never made me appreciate my Remi (11 year old vizsla) more than taking care of a puppy. He lets me sleep as long as I want, I dont have to keep an eye on him at all times to make sure he isn't destroying everything in sight and he lets me read without barking for hours on end.
Today I ran and walked for 5 miles. I did 3 miles on the treadmill and 2 outside with my mom. We started a the golf course and ended near tae kwon do. When I was walking outside with my mom, we were listening to music. I have requirements and homework left to do- and a doughnut.
Sunday is my relaxation day so thankfully it will finally be here! Multiple classes a day 5-6 times a week is starting to wear on my body (along with a full day of work every day).

After a grueling day of helping the boys with their home study and fixing the motor home, I went to the PMA seminar. It was nice to get away from the house and knock some sticks together. The group was small which was great because we moved quickly. Noah, my sons best friend, was there and it was good to see him getting some weapons experience. Back at home and back to reality, trying to get everything packed out for Disney. Sometimes it can be tricky with a motor home because we literally eat, sleep, and live in it and there seems so much to bring. Yes, I can feel your sympathy, and you're right, it's hard to complain when you have a motor home. I have found that it is the best way to travel and see the states. If I get hungry, the wife can make me a sandwich...

Today I went to Lake Norman. On Fridays they have black belt class. There I learned staff form 1 and stick form one.
It is hot, it is cold, it is cold, then it is hot again... This weather is pretty bipolar. Suppose to be in the 70s this weekend which should be nice. Not sure how much longer I can do Tae Kwon Do 6 days a week... Some of those days include helping a class, taking a class and then kickboxing after class. This is going to be rough the next few weeks... My body already feels it.

I must admit, I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I cringe every time the instructors tell the kids to give high fives or hugs. Martial arts being a contact sport, it's a challenge for folks like me. Being in King Tiger could be considered an immersion therapy treatment. Still, with the flu running rampid, and us getting ready to do a vacation down at Disney, I'm close to wearing a hazmat suit. That way, I'll be ready for the zombie apocalypse when it comes. It's funny, me and the boys even have ingrained hand signals for, "go wash your hands" or "stop rubbing your eyes." My day was going fine. I had Grammar, Science, and Spanish. That part of the day was doing good until lunch. Lunch is a very good time of day. You can relax, have fun with your friends, and it is a good time to have a break from school. I was just eating my lunch peacefully, but suddenly my friend accidently spilled buffalo sauce on my shorts. My shorts were was covered with sauce. I wasn't mad at my friend because he did not mean to. He was very sorry. So I went to my school`s close closet and got myself a new pair of shorts. I was mad because I missed about fifteen minutes of lunch. The rest of the day was fine. I hope I have a fun day tomorrow.
Today my mom said it was okay for me to bring y basketball to school! The sad part is, I forgot it. My mom was not very happy about that. If I don't bring it home tomorrow, she said, it won't be a great weekend for me. I got a 92 on my Math test though!

Today was a very windy day. The morning was calm but after lunch it started getting aggressive. The outside door to my science room was flinging open and closed. Running is also tough when you are running against the wind. In the evening it has put an end to this windy day and is calm again, the it used to be.

Today I had my third kickboxing class. It's nice taking it every Monday and Wednesday and getting 20 sparring rounds from it. I recommend it to every one because it is a good way to get in requirements. Same with adult classes.(If you're old enough that is). Adult class gets in a lot of poomsaes and self defense.
