I need to do more staff forms and Hapkido! #1-12 easy. But #12-32 I'm still working on! I know them but my brain won't put them in a numbered order! My foot still hurts and Instructor Camp is almost here! I came home with a broken wrist last year! I AM NOT GETTING HURT THIS YEAR! I want to finish this Black Belt Cycle without any injuries that require surgery!
I was 1/4 mile into my run when I stepped on the curb instead of the sidewalk while crossing the street! Of course it was my right foot! I have broken that foot a few too many times! I dont think it is broken! It feels like my arch fell but the arch is still there! I limped all day.Worked on staff forms today. I need a lot more practice on those. And Wang Ho forms too. I mess up in the same spots almost every time! I will get it right eventually.
My feet and calves are sore! 5 rounds of jump rope with 30 seconds to rest in between rounds! I did a mentee and a mentor session today! Inst. Schneider is an awesome mentor! She always grabs me as soon as class is over and makes me do poomsaes or self defenses.
I wanted to do more on my White Belt Challenge since most of it was snow days so I did Kwon Sool 50 times! It took me about 35 minutes. I still start with my right hand every once in a while. As an Instructor I have done it mirroring more than I have the correct way. Same with Chagi Sool. I step with my right foot all the time.
My hips are sore! I cant wait until I can do a jump turning hook kick and land in the splits! When I kick hard and fast I can kick pretty high! But when I do it slow It sucks! Why am I flexible fast but not slow?
There are things I cant do at home! Like pull-ups! With the snow days there are classes I am missing! I only got to be a White Belt in one class! I hope we have our Black Belt class tomorrow!
We worked on Hapkido today! I need a lot of practice! I can remember 1-16! I think I have to know 1-32!
I am going to do my White Belt Challenge starting tomorrow! I remember being a White Belt. I was the first student at the Lake Norman School.
I want to thank Instructor Marcus for the sparring class today! 10 minutes of jump rope and 14 rounds of sparring!
Did 300 kicks in Black Belt class tonight! 50 each of Front, side , roundhouse! Then turning side and hook kicks that got me pretty dizzy! Reverse Tornado kicks after that! I usually just do front side and roundhouse kicks on a bag but I am going to start doing other kicks too.
I woke up ith a headache this morning! I still have one! I dont get many headaches so I hope I didn't catch something! I will know in the morning! Classes went good today! Most of my students have their poomsaes and self defenses down. I think its because of the Holidays and snow days. We did orange and green stripes for several weeks in a row! I think we are all ready for red and black stripe week! "Did I just say that? I cant wait until next week!
I was the only one there for the noon class at Lake Norman so I did an Ultimate Bodyshaping Challenge Kickboxing Class! That is 18 - 90 sec. rounds! It kicked my butt! I also did every poomsae 3 times with each class! I demonstrated every kick 2 to 3 times for each class. I have been trying to demonstrate and explain a lot more lately. Its tough trying to cover everything when you only get 30 to 45 minutes at a time with students or Instructors.
Tuesdays are tough! My first class is 7 -3 to 5 year olds! Seven classes later and I'm still doing self defenses. My kids hate it when I say "Hey, Attack me"! They know that they will have to do it a lot! Its not their first Black Belt Cycle! I think I will do my White Belt Challenge next week. I have a wheelchair in my garage! I think Ill go a day in the wheelchair too! There are a lot of essays to write. That is the toughest part of the cycle for me!
I did a lot of poomsaes and kicks today! Orange and green stripes this week. I did 5 pull-ups my first time this morning! I want to be able to do 10!
I usually rest on Sundays but I have too much to do. I did some work on my truck. A dummy light came on so I fixed the problem and changed the fluids. Then I started doing my requirements. My back is still sore but I'm used to it. I got a lot to do tomorrow.
At Black Belt Class tonight Dillon my oldest son threw me good! I landed bad! I will feel it tomorrow! I really enjoy doing self defenses with him. He is 16 now and he is a little taller than me and probably stronger than me! I think we both had fun throwing each other around. I had another session with my mentor after class. Instructor Schneider is awesome! We worked on the double stick form. I bet we did 15 times.
I pushed myself today. Still playing catch up for getting sick. Sparring class went good. Actually any time I spar and don't get hurt its good! I would love to make it through the cycle without any serious injuries! I separated my A.C. joint half way through my last cycle and had wait another six weeks to get surgery to fix it. I still can't do as many push-ups as I could before I separated my shoulder. But I am working on it. I want to be able to do 60 push-ups in 60 seconds again!
I did a lot today. Every hour I would do push-ups or sit-ups or jump-rope. I have to make up fo being sick for a couple of days. Another snow day tomorrow. A lot more to do!
Either food poisoning or a stomach bug. Everybody in my house has it.
I feel pretty good today. Still sore but not too bad. Had a big sparring class tonight. There were 15 of us" kids" smiling as we kicked each other.
Today was a make-up day for yesterday. I ran/walked 3 miles today . It was Cold! I didn't run yesterday. I was really sore yesterday but today is much better. In our noon class today we did our stick, bolo & staff forms. Its kinda nice having class with the Hartles and Inst. Schneider on Monday and Wednsday at noon. I'm so lucky! I can't imagine having a 9 to 5 and being on a Black Belt Cycle. I am at the dojang all of the time and its hard to get all of the requirements done.
I feel like I have the energy but my muscles say NO! I am doing 10 pushups and situps at a time. Did Basic forms, Wang Ho forms and self defenses today with the Jolly Girls and my son Dillon. There are a lot of stick and staff forms I need to practice too!
The pre test wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I made a100 on the written and I don't have to redo anything! But I need to take 6 minutes off of my 2.5 miles. I can do it if I run the whole way. I walked a few times on Saturday. I was really sore when I woke up this morning but it has gotten better throughout the day.
The first day is done! I started my day by jogging. My lungs really don't like the cold! I weased for about an hour afterwards. My legs feel noodley now. Then I took class with my Sister and Inst. Schneider. Worked on Black Belt self defenses and basic forms. I also filled in the written test. That was the easiest part of my day. I am not looking forward to the physical test on Saturday. Mostly the run!!! I barely made a mile today! The self defenses and poomsaes I could do in my sleep.
