#2 My Love for the Black Belt Cycle

One of my favorite parts of every Black Belt cycle is getting to know all of the candidates. I love meeting the new Bo Chos from each school, watching familiar faces return as they pursue higher ranks, and seeing those I already know and love make the commitment to another cycle.

When you see each other every day, it's easy to overlook the passion, dedication, and excitement that each person carries as they work toward the next level. These cycles are a reminder that every student—no matter how long they've trained—has chosen to continue growing, learning, and challenging themselves.

This cycle, I have the incredible honor of watching several members of my own family achieve these goals. Whether by blood or by choice, my husband,  daughter, my sons, my best friend, and many students who have become family over the years are all walking this journey together as they work toward higher Black Belt ranks and Master certifications.

Watching them train reminds me that earning a Black Belt is never about a belt alone. It's about the countless hours spent practicing when no one is watching.... the perseverance to keep going through setbacks, the humility to remain teachable, and the courage to strive for something that once seemed impossible.

As an instructor, there is no greater reward than seeing someone realize they are capable of more than they ever imagined. As a mom, a friend, and a member of this King Tiger family, my heart is overflowing with pride.

To every candidate in this cycle, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey. Your determination inspires me, and I can't wait to celebrate each milestone with you. No matter what rank you are pursuing, remember that the person you become along the way will always be your greatest achievement.
