Today was a solid, productive day overall. I kicked things off with a good workout at 9Round before heading straight into work, where I installed the vehicle battery I had charged overnight. Unfortunately, the vehicle still needed a jump start, meaning either the battery or the alternator is shot. Once "Bug" finishes picking up the kids tomorrow, I'll pull the battery out to get it tested or put it back on the charger overnight. If the battery is dead, I'll swap it out for a new one; if it tests fine, the vehicle is going straight back to the shop.
Before taking on my usual afternoon kid pickup, I managed to spend about 30 minutes working on my Five Kwans essay. As soon as I got back, I jumped right into helping in a class and leading warm ups in a class. I really enjoy filming the after-school students during training—it gives them clear visual feedback on areas to improve, and parents love seeing their kids active and practicing Taekwondo. After attending the 5:15 PM class, I held a mentoring session with my mentee while waiting for sparring to begin. Sparring tonight was a nice, though after all the intensity of this testing cycle, I am definitely looking forward to giving my right foot and ankle a well-deserved break once it's all wrapped up.
To top off the evening, Lauren and I enjoyed a great dinner together. I have to admit I’m a bit jealous that Christian went up to the mountains on a fishing trip with his grandparents, but it made for a nice date night. Looking ahead, it’s going to be a long weekend. Flag football practice is kicking off Saturday, I’m hoping to squeeze in one more practice before our season opener next Saturday since Christian and one other player wont be there this weekend. I was frustrated to learn there's significantly more travel involved this season than originally talked about, but we'll see how everything plays out. Goodnight all, and TGIF!
