Star date 1-12

Yes, I was a former Trekie. But I think I'm cured as I haven't seen a Star Trek show in about four years. I guess I finally seen all the episodes and they all looked the same after awhile. Here's the thing that always amazed me. Your out in space stuck on a Federal Vessel which is a strict military, and there's no way to escape it. Someone is always giving you orders and there's nothing you can do about it unless you high jack a shuttle and go hide out at the nearest habitable planet where everything is trying to eat you or there's a bunch of dudes who don't show emotions. When I was in the military, during the day, someone was always giving us orders and we had to follow them. But then I got to go home and get away from that until the next day. On a space ship, you can't even flush the toilet without someone noticing and then making corrections on proper flushing techniques. Ever notice that even when they were off in their free time in Star Trek, they were in their uniforms. How is that free time if your still in uniform.

There was this one guy who was my supervisor while in the military, and I knew without a doubt that if we got into a fire fight with an enemy, that dude wasn't coming back. And it might not even be me, because there was a bunch of us who wanted to eradicate the Earth of his genome. It wasn't the fact he was cruel, but that he was such an idiot. Well, in the military, if you stay in long enough, you get rank, and then you are in-charge of people. Some folks should never be in a leadership position. Anyway, after I got out, I told myself I will never work for anybody like that and yes, he is still alive. You see, there must be respect for good leadership to take hold. If the subordinate doesn't respect the leader, than the leader can demand respect all day long, but he will never earn it. I have had some phenomenal leaders in my life. And each of those guys worked hard to prove that they were worthy of their subordinates respect and trust. That's one of the great things about King Tiger, the cultivation of leadership. Some folks have it naturally, some have to work hard to learn it, but all kinds must be molded so it can be used effectively. Think of who your heroes were when you were growing up. They were the leaders, the guys out in front leading the charge. Being a leader is hard work, but it's well worth it. Because when you lead effectively, you change things effectively and for the better. A good buddy and a great leader once told me, when it all hits the fan, make a decision of what to do. Even if its the wrong decision, it's better than no decision at all. God Bless everybody.
