Sleep is good

Sleep, what a wonderful concept. You never want to deal with it when younger, you make a comfortable arrangement in you 30's. Then you become best friends with it in your forties. Of course, there always seems to be something in the way when all you want to do is sleep. Like now, I'm down to my last 20 push ups and sit ups, and all I want to do is sleep. But hey, I still need to journal, invoice, and prepare for tomorrow before I can relinquish myself to the blissfulness of sleep. I remember having to do this POW training in the military where they basically kept you up for four days straight, interrogating, beating, playing mind games, and starve you. And I found out that all those other things were so minor compared to getting a little shut eye. We literally became hallucinogenic and we couldn't even form proper sentences. Towards the end they stuck me into a 2 x 2 foot wooden box in the ground, completely blacked out. Normally that would have been freaky, but on that day, it was a great opportunity to crash out for the next hour. After that training, I told myself that I would never shrug off sleep again. And we have been best friends since.
