My dog had a grooming appointment at different Bandfield hospital than the one in Northlake. It was just a general check, but while I was waiting, I started to have a panic that I'm not doing enough to give him a consistent schedule and discipline due to my lack of knowledge and school. The vet tech came in and she listen to concerns. And we talked for a while, I was concern that I was taking too much of her time, but she didn't make me feel that way. She re-affirmed that he looks well and gave some advice. I really appreciate that little time she took to listen to my concerns. When I went to pick up Kodi, the vet came out and spoke to me to address my concern about anxiety and training, and tips about brushing his teeth. Being heard and listening well is so important. I've especially notice that as a nurse. I definitely have to set limits on how long I can stay in a patient's room to chat, but listening and addressing their concerns can really make a difference in how they preserve their treatment.
Similar, encouraging/complement another student as a black belt can be a really uplifting moment. I love seeing the smiles on the young kiddos faces when I cheer them during line drills. It makes me smile too.
