Hello everyone. I added my Kukkiwon Cup credits to my 1/18/2018 tracking stats. I really liked the Kukkiwon event. I really like to spar, which is my favorite part. Poomsaes and Breaking are good too, but sparring is what I enjoy most. It was a great experience. The group of gentlemen (four) I was paired up with were all great folks from different schools throughout North Carolina. It was great to talk and hear their experience. Most of them are like me -- doing this with their children. It was also great to hear how Tae Kwon Do has changed their lives. I know it has changed mine. I am in a much better place both physically and mentally. The sparring match went pretty well. Although I did not win, I feel like it was the best match I have competed in as of yet. I controlled the situation and was being strategic in attacking. I also was able to pace myself better. I have been known to go hog wild in the first round and have less for the second round. Not the case this time. I am learning... Thank you Master Marcus.
The other thing that is great about these competitions is the support amongst the King Tiger family. It was great to watch the competitors from our schools and cheer them on. It is great to spend time with everyone and watch everyone do their best. It was great day.
The last thing that really impressed me was the scholarship awards that were presented to the older high-school students for college. Those scholarships could be the difference between someone going to college and not. It was amazing to watch these young athletics work hard and earn them through Tae Kwon Do. It was an honor to participate in the competition and I look forward to the next one.
